The story of CoMinVi begins in 1934, when Don Rafael Villagómez Hernández joined the “El Cubo” mine in Guanajuato.

His son, Rafael Villagómez Mapes, followed in his footsteps in 1965 and later became an independent mining contractor, laying the groundwork for a family legacy in underground mining.

In 1997, Lic. Rafael Villagómez Contreras gave new life to that legacy. With hands-on experience and a clear vision, he began taking on quarry work—starting small but driven by a deep commitment to quality. As projects grew, so did his team and equipment.

In 2002, CoMinVi was officially established in the state of Guanajuato. Since then, we’ve grown project by project, staying true to a story built on real work, clear vision, and pride in where we come from.

Environment

At CoMinVi, responsible mining begins with respect for the environment. Our environmental strategy is built on prevention, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement through the SISSMAC system.

Though we operate underground, we implement strict controls to minimize emissions, manage waste responsibly, and protect air quality at all our sites. Properly executed underground mining already reduces surface impact.

We take it further, optimizing resources, minimizing waste, and building a strong environmental culture within our teams. Our commitment is clear: to protect the environment with the same seriousness with which we protect our people.

In line with the 10 Principles of Corporate Social Responsibility, we joined the United Nations Global Compact three years ago to strengthen human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption efforts.

Tailored risk management adapted to organizational needs. In Mexico, compliance is regulated by the Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), while internationally, ISO 45001:2018 provides a recognized global framework for occupational health and safety. Adopting these standards not only reduces incidents but also boosts team morale and strengthens organizational reputation.
